Oppo made a quite silent announcement on their website about a new smartphone and it is the Oppo A77. It is a mid to high range smartphone with a good looking spec sheet and a limited launch. Let’s look at the specs.
The A77 has a 5.5 inch 1920x1080px resolution display. On the inside is a Mediatek MT6750T processor with an Octa-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and Mali-T860MP2 GPU. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Color OS on top. Not the best OS I have to say considering Android O has just been announced and Nougat just got a 7.2 update. It has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage with a 256 GB expansion slot. On the back of the device is a 13 MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture with phase detection autofocus and LED flash. It also has 1080p video capture at 30fps. On the front of the device is a 16 MP Selfie Shooter with f/2.0 aperture. It also has 1080p video capture.
All of this is powered by a Non-removable Li-Ion 3,200mAh battery with a microUSB 2.0 port. Again not that impressive. A 5.5 inch 1080p display with that battery probably will not last you the day. More so the USB 2.0 port means charging is going to be a pain.
The Oppo A77 has a price tag of NTD 10,990, which converts to about $365 with two color options of Gold and Rose Gold. The Oppo A77 is up for preorder right now but only in Taiwan. It will be available in the Taiwanese market from May 26. No news on an international launch but if it works well I’m guessing they will launch pretty soon. Until then if you are not from Taiwan but want this phone, look for a third party dealer or an online shop.
