Creating a Bipedal robots means making something steady and self-balanced. It has to be able to adapt to different situations. Agility Robotics is one of the few companies who have been pretty successful in making Bipedal robots. Recently they have put out another one called the Cassie.
Agility Robotics is working on developing human like movement and with this one they have actually improved the mechanism that they put out earlier. Cassie introduces a 3 degree movement system. This hip joint makes the movement a lot easier to control. A problems with the Bipedal robots was that to keep balance and stand still they had to skip from one foot to another. But the new ankles help the Cassie to stand still without fidgeting.
It is just standing still and walking around properly at this point. But this is a big step forward. Cause it has better balance means it can walk faster and go most places a human can. This gives the productivity of Bipedal robots a whole new meaning. Now we have to see what they end up doing with this.
